Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Handbook. We have kept it short and specific — the parts that actually matter are what you are buying, what we promise, and what happens when either of us wants out.
Effective 7 August 2026
Agreeing to these terms
By creating a Handbook account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account — and if you already have one, you can delete it at any time from Settings.
Who can use Handbook
You need a working email address and, for the paid product, a valid payment method.
If you are under 16, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and by paying they accept these terms on your behalf. Whoever owns the card is the account holder for billing purposes.
One account is for one person. Sharing sign-in details defeats the progress tracking, which is calculated from one person's answers — and we may suspend an account being used by several people at once.
What you are buying
A Handbook subscription gives you access, for the period you have paid for, to practice questions mapped to the official WAEC, JAMB and BECE syllabuses, progress and topic-mastery tracking, and AI tutoring at the level your plan includes. Exact limits per plan are on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.
There is no free tier. Access ends when the period you paid for ends.
Billing
Plans are sold as a fixed term — monthly or yearly — and charged once, up front, in Nigerian Naira through Paystack. Prices shown include any applicable tax.
Your subscription does not renew automatically. When the term ends, access stops and nothing further is charged. There is no recurring billing to cancel and no card left on file being debited. If you want to continue, you buy another term.
If we change our prices, the change applies to terms you buy after that, never retroactively to one you have already paid for.
Refunds
You can request a full refund within 14 days of payment. The Refund Policy sets out the detail and forms part of these terms.
What we promise — and what we do not
We will keep the service running and the syllabus content aligned to the official exam boards, and we will fix what we get wrong.
We do not promise you a grade or an exam result. Handbook is a study tool. What you score depends on your work, your teaching, and the exam itself. Any figure you see about typical improvement is a description of what other scholars have done, not a commitment about you.
Our practice questions and AI explanations are prepared carefully and checked against the syllabus, but they can contain errors — AI-generated explanations especially. They do not replace your teacher, your textbook, or the exam boards' own published materials. Tell us when you find a mistake and we will correct it.
Handbook is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by WAEC, JAMB or the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council. We refer to those examinations to describe what our material covers.
Acceptable use
Do not:
Scrape, bulk-download or redistribute our question bank or syllabus content; resell access to your account; attempt to reach another scholar's data; probe or attack the service; or use the AI tutor to produce work you will pass off as your own in a way your school forbids.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where the breach was not deliberate we will contact you first.
Your content
Your answers, notes and messages to the tutor remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service — storing them, processing them to generate your analytics, and sending your tutor messages to an AI provider to produce a reply.
We do not use your conversations to train AI models, and we do not publish them.
Our content
The Handbook software, question bank, explanations, syllabus structuring and branding belong to us. Your subscription buys you personal access to use them for your own study, not ownership and not a licence to redistribute.
Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by deleting your account in Settings. Because nothing auto-renews, doing nothing also ends it at the close of your paid term.
We may suspend or close your account for a serious or repeated breach of the acceptable-use section. If we close your account for any reason other than a breach, we will refund the unused part of your term.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited under Nigerian law.
Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for exam outcomes, lost study time, or indirect losses.
Changes to these terms
If we make a material change we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Handbook after that means you accept the change; if you do not, tell us and we will refund the unused portion of your term.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction.
Before anything formal, email hello@handbook.ng. Nearly everything is a misunderstanding that a reply can fix.
Questions about any of this? Email hello@handbook.ng and a person will answer.
